Winemaker David Lake , often called the dean of Washington wine, earned his Master of Wine title in 1975. In 1979, he joined Columbia Winery and embarked on a career that has changed the face of wine in Washington . He was the first winemaker to produce several varietals in Washington , including Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Gris and was the first to a series of vineyard-designated wines in Washington State.
The David Lake Signature Series of vineyard-designated wines recognizes his dedication to identifying Washington ’s best varietals and vineyards, like the renowned Red Willow and historic Otis Vineyard, and proving their relevance as producers of world-class wines.
